We're extremely proud to share that CityGrows has been named to the 2021 Govtech100 list!
Since we were first recognized as a "Company to Watch" in 2016 by Government Technology Magazine/ Govtech.com, we've taken a somewhat different path than other govtech companies. It's extremely gratifying to see our customer- and product-focused approach getting national recognition.
We've raised less capital and focused on our software, rather than on building a giant sales force. We're dedicated to creating a product that's accessible to small, medium, and large governments, not just something that's designed to fulfill the needs of large governments that can support high dollar contracts. Every local government, big or small, deserves access to excellent technology. We're excited to see other "next generation" companies like Citibot, Symbium, and ProudCity included this year as well.
We're in this for the long haul. We have raised capital strategically so that we can always put our government customers first when we're making decisions about our pricing and our product. That means we can keep our prices low and maintain our commitment to transparency in pricing (you can always find our pricing on our home page) while growing a robust and profitable business. Our technology offers robust support for complex permitting and licensing processes - as well as for internal workflows from HR and Finance teams. Here's a sampling of the ways that our customers used CityGrows in 2020 - and they're just getting started:
Our most common uses are for building permits and business licensing. These are key revenue drivers for local governments as well as important support for increasing local employment. Often our software costs 1/20th to 1/50th what governments expect to pay. They've avoided replacing older systems because of the pain of running an RFP process - but with CityGrows that's not necessary. When governments switch to using CityGrows from their older paper- or PDF-based processes they see increased revenue, better compliance, and need less staff time to manage higher volumes. All important as we move into a year of significant budgetary challenges.
We've developed a "No RFP" pricing policy to make it easy for any government to acquire and deploy CityGrows quickly, because if we've learned anything from 2020 it's that our public sector technology needs to be nimble and designed to make life better for people working inside of government. Governments can be up and running with a new permit or license online in a week or less. Really!
Our team believes that building a tech company that is purpose-built for government brings special responsibilities that are different from what's required of a B2B SaaS company. We've been talking about our values-driven culture since we were founded, and we're very excited that municipalities and counties (and soon state agencies) across the U.S. are realizing that excellent technology can be affordable and easy to deploy.
